Linker script in Mac OS

I'm searching for information on using linker script while compiling C code with gcc in Mac OS. A search gave me a post created 6 years ago Using a Linker Script on Mac OS X but it does not contain any substantial information.

Is there any formal documentation with examples on how can I start portingcreating linker scripts to use with gcc in my Mac OS?
