I have to produce several hundred USB drives and am using a supplier who can preload files onto each one. What I'd like to do is replace the default drive icons—

Mac Volume Icon

—with a custom icon I've created.

I know about the copy+paste method, but the number of drives makes that prohibitive. I know about the .VolumeIcon.icns method, but it seems that too requires another step, namely ruing SetFile -a C .VolumeIcon.icns on each drive (if I'm mistaken, please correct me).

What I'm looking for is a way to have the supplier load a (.icns) file onto each drive that will automatically set the drive's icon. One thread hinted at a way of adding 3 files, but I'm not sure how to come by these. Any ideas?
