I need to simply make a simple website on OpenShift with Python in a rush.

I have had a lot of trouble with Openshift, WSGI and static files in the past (two apps) and I did not what to get stuck down that path this time as it felt like reinventing the wheel.
The inteet tells me to use Django. Yet in my hands, the leaing curve is not for developers with a deadline: I just spent a while getting it ruing and I still need to read the tutorial on views etc.. I have the strong feeling this is overkill and is going to take a lot more time than simply using the WSGI library.

The aim of this question is for me to find out if I should I stick with WGSI, persevere with Django or use something else. As that is a subjective question, I am not asking that, but I would like that to be kept in mind for the answers. I would like to hear a personal experience of:

  1. How long did it actually take you to lea Django?
  2. Did you struggle with static files, path layouts or similar with Django in Openshift?
