Screenshot of Mac Terminal window displaying error when ruing a git command. Above the terminal window, a Mac pop-up prompts to install "Command line developer tools"

As the title mentions, after updating Mac to Tahoe 26.6.2, each time I open terminal it says "Failed to locate 'git', requesting installation of command line developer tools." And even when I install the tools, it still doesn't work, and the pop-up keeps popping up each time I run a git command.

Some sources I've found say that I need to re-install git (e.g., this Reddit post), but why should I have to re-install git? It was already installed using homebrew, and I don't use Xcode at all.

Surely there's a more graceful way of fixing this issue than re-installing git.
